This is one of my favorite tunes, straight from the classic TV series "a journey to the west"西游记,entitled "womanly affection"女儿情.It's very melodic and if you know the background story, also very heartbreaking...

This beautiful queen fell in love with monk Tripitaka when he traveled through her Kingdom. She offered to marry him and handed him Her Throne so they could live happily ever after, only to be turned down bluntly and determinedly by the Monk, who manifested his deep commitment to his religion, which stipulates he swore off any romantic relationship with any woman...

It seems He was also sorta in love, but he had to nip it in the bud so as to move on and complete his mission...

And this is the sad part.

So everytime I hear this song I think of all the missed love in the world...

Anyway, here I attach the video clip of this song, straight from the TV series, enjoy!

    PART 1

    PART 2

  • Hi --

Dane -- You asked me about the song YMCA.

YMCA is a 70's hit by a disco group called The Village People. Originally they were created as sort of collection of gay fantasy stereotypes, with music directed at a gay audience. However, their songs became popular with everyone, and most average people did not understand that they were gay or that there were gay references in their songs. They had a song about the navy, which was supposedly a hotbed of gay activity (even though homosexuality is forbidden in the US military). Their song YMCA is about this gym/social club for men that exists throughout the US. I guess there was a lot of gay activity there in NY City in the seventies, although it is not known for that today.

When singing the song, in the part that goes "YMCA, it's fun to stay at the YMCA," you raise your arms above your head and make the different letters with them. One advantage of this, for men anyway, is when girls do this you can see their chests more clearly, and I'm sure that's why Hooters has the girls sing that song.

    回复MF说:
it's fun to stay at the y.m.c.a.
it's fun to stay at the y.m.c.a.
they have everything for young men to enjoy.
you can hang out with all the boys.

it's fun to stay at the y.m.c.a.
it's fun to stay at the y.m.c.a.
    you can get yourself clean
you can have a good meal
you can do whatever you feel.

---- well, now that you gave the background details of this song,I find some parts of the lyrics very gay-ish indeed...dropped a lot of homo hints around...
